Kaspersky Administration Kit 8 beta 2 (8.0.1838) ![]() GENERAL DESCRIPTION Main purposes of the beta version release: - Familiarization with a new scheme of initial application setup and configuration; - Familiarization with a new model of initial deployment of the anti-virus protection system within a network; - Familiarization with the new user interface of the application; - detecting application errors which occur only in specific software and hardware configurations. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Changes introduced in build 8.0.1838 (Kaspersky Administration Kit 8 beta 2) compared with 6.0.1710 (Administration Kit 6 Maintenance Pack 2): - Introduced simplified application installation mode. - Packages for remote deployment of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Windows Workstations and Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 for Windows Servers are created during application setup. - The application kit now includes the distribution package of MS SQL 2005 Express. MS SQL 2005 Express is installed automatically if standard setup is selected. - User interface of the product has been redesigned significantly. - Added support for dashboards updated in real time. - Added opportunity for collection of information about the applications installed on client computers. - Redesigned and extended system of access rights. - Added support for SNMP monitoring of basic parameters of anti-virus protection in corporate LAN. - Added support for Microsoft NAP. - Added opportunity to switch mobile clients between administration servers. - Extended criteria for switching of clients between the mobile and regular policies. - Extended opportunities for automatic assignment of computers to administration groups. - Added opportunity to create the administration groups based on the Active Directory structure. - Added automation interface for the Administration Server. - Added documented database views enabling users to create their custom reporting systems. - Added opportunity to create a stand-alone installation package for Kaspersky Lab applications. - Added opportunity to export reports to PDF and XML (Excel) formats. - Several accounts can be specified in a remote deployment task. - Added support for two sets of columns in the Administration Console. - Added new criteria of computer status: "License Key expired", "There unprocessed objects", "Restart required". - Added new columns for the list of computers: "Restart", "Status description", "Network Agent version", "Protection version", "Database version", "Turn-on time". - Extended statistics of update agents. - Added opportunity to select all computers acting as update agents. - Added opportunity to select all computers with the enabled flag "Do not disconnect from the Administration Server". - Added opportunity to maintain a list of administrator comments and generation of a corresponding report. - Added opportunity to view the current user sessions on a computer and user contact information (in case of its availability in Active Directory). - Added graphical interface for the klbackup utility. - The task for removal of external applications now allows removing several applications at once. - Files of policies and groups tasks are distributed using multicast IP delivery provided that necessary settings are selected in the properties of the corresponding update agent. - WakeOnLan setting is available for clients in subnetworks other than the Administration Server subnet. - WakeOnLAN setting is available in case of manual task launch. - Administrators do not see in the Administration Console and during report generation the objects for which they have no read rights. - Restart settings for client computers can be specified in the properties of a remote deployment task. - Extended information displayed in reports (in particular, in the report on license keys). - Added new reports (report on virus activity of users, deployment report, report on applications registry, events report, report on the versions of updates for program modules of Kaspersky Lab applications, report on administrator notes). - Implemented opportunity to take into account the applications connected to slave administration servers while downloading necessary updates. - An account not included into the group of local administrators can be used as the Administration Server account. - Developed utility for preparation of computers included into a workgroup for remote deployment. - Implemented functionality for retrieval of updates necessary for an application immediately after creation of its installation package. - Modified functionality for limitation of the notifications sent within a specified time interval - now the limitations are separate for each individual type of events. - Implemented functionality for stable collection of data from slave administration servers for reports even if disconnection between the servers occurs. - Implemented data caching functionality for generation of summary reports including information from slave administration servers. - Added opportunity to collect detailed data during creation of summary reports. - Introduced classification of possible errors returned by the remote application deployment subsystem and added guidelines for troubleshooting of typical problems. - Implemented functionality of subsystems statuses in the administration system. - Added functionality for automatic application of patches for the modules of the administration system components. - Added functionality for creating computer queries including information from the slave administration servers. - Added functionality for searching for groups and slave administration servers by server hierarchy. Known issues: - Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 proactive component may issue warning at the startup of the Administration Console. - Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0 proactive component may block application remote deployment. - Synchronization between the Network Agent and the administration server can sometimes be blocked by the Anti-Hacker component of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 8.0. - The installer starts twice during the update of the Network Agent version in case of a remote deployment. - Applications registry does not display updates for Windows Vista and newer versions. - 64-bit applications are not displayed in the application registry's list. - In case of Kaspersky Administration Kit uninstallation, the user is prompted to uninstall Microsoft SQL Express even if this application was never installed.
